Psalm 4
1 Answer me when I call to you,
my righteous God.
Give me relief from my distress;
have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
2 How long will you people turn my glory into shame?
How long will you love delusions and seek false gods? v
3 Know that the LORD has set apart his faithful servant for himself;
the LORD hears when I call to him.
4 Tremble and do not sin;
when you are on your beds,
search your hearts and be silent.
5 Offer the sacrifices of the righteous
and trust in the LORD.
6 Many, LORD, are asking, “Who will bring us prosperity?”
Let the light of your face shine on us.
7 Fill my heart with joy
when their grain and new wine abound.
8 In peace I will lie down and sleep,
for you alone, LORD,
make me dwell in safety.
Have you ever replayed moments of the day or conversations wondering if you could have done better. I’m talkng about those moments when you question what you could have done different and you dwell on it. Psalm 4 speaks directly to this feeling. The world around us, and sometimes even the voice in our own head, constantly asks, “Who can show us any good?” It can drive us to try to find happiness in better circumstances, more success, or greater prosperity. But David offers a radical alternative. He finds a deeper joy in God’s presence. One that doesn’t depend on productivity or a growing bank account, but comes directly from the source of joy itself. This is the quiet confidence that allows him to say, “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety”. Perhaps true peace isn’t about our problems disappearing, but about discovering that God’s presence with us is a greater source of security and joy than any external solution we could imagine. This week find joy in His presence.

Have a great week!
